Luxury Travel in Singapore

Singapore is my first choice destination for luxury travel in Asia, due to the fantastic choice of 5 star hotels, modern skyscrapers, historical landmarks, fine dining options and high end designer shopping. This city state consistently ranks as one of the wealthiest countries in the world, and I can honestly say it is one of the cleanest and safest places I have ever visited.

There are some amazing places to eat in Singapore from high end Michelin starred restaurants to local hawker centres that serve a variety of tasty street food dishes, which blend influences from Chinese, Malay, Indian, and other cultures. A great spot I found on my trip was LeVel 33 (restaurant & bar) at Marina Bay, which gives you a lovely view overlooking Marina Bay Sands whilst you have something to eat and drink.

There is plenty of luxury shopping to experience in Singapore as well, with a wide variety of designer boutiques, flagship stores and shopping districts such as Orchard Road, where you can find exclusive fashion labels and luxury goods.

My recommended attractions to visit in Singapore, include the iconic Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and for those who enjoy a bit of adventure, Universal Studios on Sentosa Island. There are some absolutely world class 5 star hotels to choose from, all offering fantastic service and some amazing facilities. Here are my top 5 to consider:

1. Marina Bay Sands

10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore 018956

Marina Bay Sands is one of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks, offering an extremely high standard of luxury, world class amenities and absolutely stunning views. With its striking design, featuring three towers connected by the SkyPark, this hotel is not just a place to stay, but a destination in itself with its wide range of facilities. Located centrally in the Marina Bay area, it’s perfect for business and leisure travellers, with easy access to some of the main attractions.

  • Rooms: Over 2,500 luxury and spacious rooms with with high standard of amenities.

  • Dining: More than 80 dining options, including Michelin starred restaurants.

  • Facilities: Infinity pool on the SkyPark. High end shopping at The Shoppes. ArtScience Museum.

2. Pan Pacific

7 Raffles Boulevard, Marina Square, Singapore 039595

Number 2 on my list is Pan Pacific Singapore, which is another five star hotel located in the Marina Bay area. It has a modern design, with very cool glass dome lifts, and most rooms have panoramic views of the city. I think Pan Pacific Singapore is an excellent choice if you are looking for comfort, convenience and luxury close to Marina Bay, without paying the premium price at Marina Bay Sands. The hotel’s location, together with its great service, facilities and dining options, make it a good option for families, business and leisure travellers. Highly recommended for those looking for a well rounded luxury stay in Singapore.

  • Premier Suites: Approximately $500-$700 USD per night (rates can vary depending on season).

3. The Fullerton Bay

80 Collyer Quay, Singapore 049326

The Fullerton Bay Hotel is a stunning 5 star waterfront hotel that has both modern luxury and a rich heritage element to it. Situated about as central as you can get in Marina Bay, the hotel is very elegant with sleek architecture, bespoke interiors and excellent service. The price tag is however on the higher side compared to other 5 star hotels in the area, but if you have a preference for boutique luxury hotels that give you more personalised service, you may be willing to pay the extra. The waterfront location also adds to the higher price tag. Would highly recommended for couples, business travellers and anyone celebrating a special occasion.

4. The Westin

12 Marina View, Asia Square Tower 2, Singapore 018961

The Westin Singapore is a sophisticated five star hotel, which is situated in the city’s financial district. Located on the upper floors of Asia Square Tower 2, the hotel has absolutely stunning clear views of the Marina Bay area and South China Sea. Whilst I would say The Westin leans slightly more towards a corporate ambiance, it’s an excellent option for anyone wanting to enjoy some of the health and wellness benefits the hotel has to offer during their stay. This hotel is really less suited to families and more suited for business and leisure travellers.

Overview:

  • Location: Marina Bay area, in the financial district.

  • Rooms: 305 contemporary rooms and suites, with high end amenities and all featuring the very comfortable signature Westin Heavenly Bed.

Price Range:

  • Deluxe Rooms: Approximately $350-$550 USD per night (rates can vary depending on season).

  • Junior Suites: Approximately $700-$900 USD per night (rates can vary depending on season).

5. Raffles Hotel

1 Beach Road, Singapore 189673

Finally, I have to recommend the iconic Raffles, which is steeped in history and elegance. Established in 1887, this colonial style hotel has hosted royalty, celebrities and high profile guests from around the world. The hotel has undergone an extensive restoration, but still retains its timeless charm while offering modern amenities and some of the best hotel service I have ever experienced. Raffles Hotel is an iconic place to stay if you are going to Singapore, as it is home to the Singapore Sling cocktail! I would say it is well suited for special occasions and couples who like to indulge in more of an elegant luxury. The only downside is that the pool is on the small side compared to other luxury hotels in the area.

Overview:

  • Location: Centrally located in Singapore’s Civic District.

  • Rooms: 115 spacious and elegantly designed suites, each with a private veranda.

  • Dining: Nine exceptional dining venues, including:

    • Tiffin Room: North Indian cuisine.

    • La Dame de Pic: French fine dining.

    • Raffles Courtyard: Alfresco dining with tropical vibes.

    • Long Bar: Home of the iconic Singapore Sling cocktail!

  • Facilities: Outdoor swimming pool. Beautiful courtyards. Raffles Spa. Boutique shopping arcade. Personalised butler service for every suite.

  • Service: Extremely high standard of service. Staff are very friendly and attentive.
