If you're heading to Singapore and looking for a fun day out, then you have to head to Universal Studios. This place is an absolute blast! I have been to a few different Universal Studios now, and for me this was one of the best. From the thrilling roller coasters to the movie themed zones, Universal Studios is the ultimate playground for kids and adults alike.
I recently had a fantastic day there and if you're wondering how to make the most of your visit, here’s everything you need to know, from how to get there, where to get tickets, the best rides, food options, and why my day was so good.
The amusement park is located on Sentosa Island, which is an area full of entertainment.
Getting there is super easy, and you have a few options:
1. MRT (Train) + Sentosa Express
Take the MRT to HarbourFront Station (North-East or Circle Line).
Head to VivoCity Mall (Level 3) and get on the Sentosa Express monorail.
Get off at Waterfront Station and you are at Universal Studios.
2. Taxi/Grab
If you prefer convenience, just book a Grab or taxi straight to Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).
3. Walking
From VivoCity, you can take a really enjoyable walk along the Sentosa Boardwalk (about 10-15 minutes).
4. Cable Car
If you would like a more scenic route with fantastic views, then you can take a cable car from HarbourFront Station.
Take the Sentosa line to Imbiah Lookout Station, and once there you can either transfer to the Sentosa Internal Tram or walk to Universal studios (about 10-15 mins).
Alternatively, you can get off at Siloso Point Station and take the a free Sentosa Beach Shuttle to Resorts World Sentosa (where Universal Studios is).
A Great Adrenaline Filled Day!
I was in Singapore for a 3 day trip and had heard great things about Universal Studios, so it was high on my agenda. After spending the previous day exploring Gardens by the Bay, I dedicated my entire second day for fun at Universal Studios! To avoid the queues I had already purchased my tickets through trip.com (also saved 10% by doing this) and arrived just after opening at 10am. Typically, the crowds weren't actually that bad, but perhaps that's because I visited on a Thursday. Weekends can get very busy.
As soon as you enter the park it feels like you have walked into the United States of America, as the Hollywood theme is the first area and you are presented with various gift shops and character meet & greets.
I had been told by a friend that The Transformers ride was one of the best, which is located in 'Sci-Fi City', so that was where I headed first. This 4D experience involves being jolted around in a buggy whilst you watch the Transformers save the world in 3D glasses. The ride was good fun, but not my favourite of the day. Next on my list was Battlestar Galactica. Two intertwining thrilling rollercoasters (Cylon & Human), which can be ridden back to back. For me Cylon was the more thrilling out of the two.
My next ride turned out to be my favourite and was so intense I actually rode it twice.....Revenge of the Mummy in 'Ancient Egypt'! Surprisingly there was little to no queue for this ride and yet in my opinion was one of the best in the park. It is a thrilling indoor rollercoaster, whereby you are plunged into darkness and whizzed around at high speed, with steep drops going forwards and backwards.
After being thrown around all morning, I decided to take a break from the rides and have a walk to see what was about. I grabbed a burger at Mel's Drive In in the 'New York Area' to recharge and then moved on to 'The Lost World' area to hit the family favourite, Jurassic Park Rapids. This ride was a lot of fun, with very steep drops, fast turns and enough water coming over board to soak you through. I finished the day watching the Waterworld show, which was absolutely brilliant, and then went on my final ride, Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase in the New York Area, which was very average if I'm honest and if there is a queue for it, I wouldn't bother, unless you are with young children.

Where to Get Tickets
There is a few options for tickets:
1. Online (Best Option)
Trip.com usually has discounts (I saved about 10%). Link here
Official Universal Studios website – Sometimes they have special promotions.
2. At the Gate
You can buy tickets at the entrance, but expect long lines, especially on weekends.
If you intend to make the most of your day and go on as many rides as you can, then I would recommend getting the Universal Express Pass. It lets you skip the regular queues for the majority of the rides.

Top 5 Rides
Universal Studios is divided into 7 themed zones:
Hollywood
New York
Sci-Fi City
Ancient Egypt
The Lost World
Far Far Away
Minion Land
Here are my favourite rides:
1. Revenge of the Mummy (Ancient Egypt)
A high speed indoor roller coaster in complete darkness with fire effects and creepy mummies.
The sudden backward drop is a surprise that will make you scream!
Thrill Level: ★★★★★

2. Battlestar Galactica:
Human vs. Cylon (Sci-Fi City)
Duelling roller coasters — Human is a seated ride and Cylon is suspended.
Cylon is absolutely insane with high speed flips, twists, and drops.
Thrill Level: ★★★★★

3. Transformers: The Ride (Sci-Fi City)
A 3D motion ride where you team up with Optimus Prime and go into battle.
Is very immersive, feels like you’re inside the movie.
Thrill Level: ★★★★☆

4. Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure (Jurassic Park)
A water ride where you dodge dinosaurs and get very wet!
Wear a poncho or embrace getting soaked!
Thrill Level: ★★★★☆

5. Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase
(New York)
Okay, this one is more for the kids.
A gentle and slow ride through a Sesame Street space adventure.
Thrill Level: ★★☆☆☆

What to Eat
Here are some great food options inside the park:
1. Loui’s NY Pizza Parlor (Hollywood) - As you may have guessed from the name they serve pizza! Perfect if you just want a quick bite.
2. Mel’s Drive In (New York) - American themed diner, serving burgers and fries.
3. Fossil Fuels (Jurassic Park) - Snack spot with giant turkey legs, fries and hot dogs for a quick bite.
4. KT’s Grill (The Lost World) - Sit down restaurant with grilled chicken, ribs, and seafood. A bit pricier, but good choice if you want a proper meal.
5. Starbucks (Hollywood) - Coffee and light snacks located by the entrance.

Final Tips
✅ Go on a weekday—shorter lines.
✅ Download the USS app for ride wait times.
✅ Bring a poncho if you don’t want to get wet.
✅ Wear comfortable shoes—there is a lot of walking.
Universal Studios Singapore is a great fun filled day out and would highly recommend it. I had an amazing time!
