If you're looking for a slice of paradise in Koh Samui without breaking the bank, then Hyatt Regency Koh Samui will be a great choice for you! I had an incredible three day stay there in June (2025), and I can honestly say it’s one of the best luxury resorts on the island for the price. From the fantastic views, to the top class service, this place exceeded my expectations.
The hotel is only a short distance from the airport, taking just under 10 minutes by taxi. As soon as I arrived, I was blown away by the resort’s design. It is modern, yet tropical, with beautiful greenery and open spaces. The resort opened in 2021 and was built around 600 protected Yang Na and coconut trees, which added to the wow factor! There is a stunning open plan lobby area, where I was greeted with warm friendly smiles from the staff, who provided me with a refreshing welcome drink and ensured a very smooth check-in.
I had booked a King Room with Partial Ocean View, which was absolutely gorgeous. My only criticism would be that the ocean view really was 'partial' , as could hardly see much for the surrounding trees. However, this did provide some privacy when sitting on the balcony. The room itself was extremely spacious at 53 sqm (570 sqft), with a sleek minimalist design, extremely comfortable bedding, and a fantastic long bathroom, with large walk in shower and separate deep bathtub by the window.
The Pools & Beach: Pure Relaxation
One of the highlights of the resort is its main infinity pool overlooking the ocean. I spent hours lounging here, with cocktail in hand, listening to an audio book, just soaking in the views. The pool area is actually split into 5 freeform pools, so it never felt overcrowded, and there were plenty of cabanas for shade when the sun got too intense.
The resort also has direct access to a private beach, with soft golden sand, crystal clear water, and plenty of loungers. It was a bit rocky around the shore edge though, so needed to be a bit careful to not stub a toe when going in the water! Water sports are on offer here as well, which include paddle boarding, kayaking and snorkelling.

Food & Drinks: Delicious & Diverse
I’m a huge foodie, and the resort had some fantastic dining options;
Yangna Cuisine: This is the hotels main restaurant, serving some great Thai and International food throughout the day. Starting off with a fantastic breakfast buffet, which had an amazing range of tasty options, from fresh tropical fruits to made to order eggs Benedict. Has both indoor and outdoor seating.
Sesun Grill & Beach Bar: As you may guess from the name, this is located at the beachfront. Serving mouth watering seafood and succulent meat, along with a variety of Mediterranean dishes. Great place to relax for both lunch and dinner, whilst enjoying a cocktail overlooking Koh Samui Beach.
Kube: This is a really nice chill cafe by day, turning into more of a bar in the evening. Situated just off the lobby area, you can enjoy a coffee and a range of cakes/pastries in the morning. Then later on in the evening, you can enjoy a cocktail or beer whilst having a game of pool. I really enjoyed having my morning coffee here, whilst catching up on some sport on the huge widescreen TV.
Regency Club: This is only available to guests staying in 'Regency Club' rooms and suites, but it is here you can enjoy some light bites and refreshing drinks throughout the day, and in the evening indulge in a selection of seasonal hot and cold canapés with complimentary beverages.

Service: Impeccable & Friendly
What really made my stay special was the incredible service. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. Whether it was arranging a last minute spa treatment or recommending some local bars/restaurants to check out, they were always helpful with such warm smiles.

Facilities
Spa & Wellness: During your stay you can relax by nourishing your mind, body and spirit at Verio Spa. I treated myself to a traditional Thai massage, and it was such a relaxing experience. The spa has a very tranquil atmosphere, with very skilled and friendly therapists.
Fitness Centre: The gym is situated on the floor above the spa, and was well equipped with modern machines, free weights, and even a space for some yoga/stretching.
Camp Hyatt Kids Club: If you’re traveling with little ones, there is plenty to keep them occupied, with a kids pool, play area and even a kids club, which offers fun activities like arts & crafts, games, and Thai cooking classes (supervised, of course!). So is a great way for parents to get in some alone time.
The Regency Club Lounge: As mentioned above, this is for guests with club access, which is a nice perk. Complimentary breakfast, evening cocktails, and light bites in an exclusive, quiet setting with beautiful views.

Location: Quiet but Convenient
The resort is located in North Chaweng, a quieter part of Koh Samui, which I loved because it felt more exclusive and peaceful. But it was only a 10-15 minute drive to the central part of Chaweng, the island’s main hub for nightlife, shopping and beach bars. The hotels concierge can easily arrange taxis or rentals for you.

Final Verdict:
After staying at several hotels in Koh Samui, I can confidently say that Hyatt Regency offers some of the best value for a 5 star experience. The combination of stunning views, incredible food, first class service, and high end amenities makes it a fantastic choice.
If you’re planning a trip to Koh Samui and want a luxury yet reasonably priced resort, I couldn’t recommend Hyatt Regency enough. My three days here were absolutely brilliant, and I would definitely stay again!
Rating: 9.5/10 (Only because no place is perfect, but this comes pretty close!)
