Bangkok is one of my favourite city's in the world, it has such a buzz about it, from it's exciting nightlife to the bustling day & night markets. The people will be some of the friendliest you will ever meet and you will never be short of things to do, like wondering the parks, watching a muay thai fight or checking out the latest restaurants, Bangkok has something for everyone. Here is my top ten things to do in the city when you visit:

1. Sunset Cocktails at Sky Bars

Bangkok has some of the world’s best rooftop bars I have ever been to. The top five I would highly recommend are;

1. Sky Bar at Lebua (Silom) (pictured)

2. Vertigo at Banyan Tree Bangkok (Sathon)

3. Octave at Marriott Hotel (Sukhumvit)

4. Tichuca at T-One Building (Sukhumvit)

5. Speakeasy at Muse Hotel (Lumphini)

These are great places to relax and enjoy a Bangkok sunset, whilst sipping on some signature cocktails.

2. Private Temple Tour of the Grand Palace and Wat Arun

Number 2 on my list is to have a private tour of the beautiful Grand Palace, which is the historic home of Thai royalty, followed by a tour of Wat Arun (pictured), the stunning "Temple of Dawn." A knowledgeable guide can provide fascinating information into Thai culture and history, which will really make the most of your visit.

3. Take a Cruise on the Chao Phraya River

A really enjoyable evening can be spent on a luxury dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River onboard a boat like the Manohra Cruise. You can enjoy a multi course Thai fine dining experience with first class service, whilst cruising past some of Bangkok's famous landmarks.

4. High End Spa Experience

You can treat yourself to some wonderful spa experiences in Bangkok. Enjoy a traditional Thai massage or a modern spa ritual at luxury retreats like The Oriental Spa at Mandarin Oriental or Anantara Spa at Anantara Siam Bangkok.

5. Shop at Luxury Malls

For the ultimate shopping experience, you must visit Iconsiam, this is one of the best malls I have ever been to, from the retail offering it has, to the architectural design and location on the riverside. Central Embassy is also a luxury mall worth checking out. It is another architecturally stunning mall, in the Phloen Chit area, which is known for high end boutiques and fine dining.

6. Dine at a Michelin Starred Restaurant

Bangkok has a very sophisticated and diverse food scene. If you want a truly memorable experience, then treat yourself to a meal at Gaggan Anand, for some amazing progressive Indian dishes, or Sorn, for exquisite Southern Thai food. Both restaurants are very popular, so would strongly recommend making reservations well in advance.

7. Stay at a Luxury Hotel in Bangkok

Treat yourself to a stay at one of Bangkok’s premier 5 star hotels. One of the things I love about Bangkok is that many luxury hotels come at an affordable price. Some I would recommend checking out, are the more traditional Mandarin Oriental and Peninsula on the riverside, or the modern luxury of The Carlton in Sukhumvit. Each one offers outstanding service, fantastic dining options, and high end rooms with first class amenities. Please check out my top 5 luxury hotels in the city by following the below link;

8. Take In The Views At Mahanakhon Skywalk

Head up to the 78th floor at The Mahanakhon Skywalk, to take in the stunning 360 degree panoramic views of Bangkok. Situated at the top the King Power Mahanakhon Tower, this skywalk features a glass floor observation deck, which is 310 meters above ground level, providing a thrilling and unnerving experience for visitors!

9. Walk Benchakitti Park

Benchakitti Park is a peaceful haven situated centrally in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok (5 min walk from Asok BTS), and is a great place to visit to relax, clear your mind and engage in some outdoor activities. The park is spread over 180 acres, and features a large central lake, beautiful landscaping, recreational facilities and an abundance of wildlife, including the monitor lizard! There are many running/walking trails throughout the park to help you navigate your way through and take in the scenery.

10. Visit The Ancient City

The Ancient City, or Muang Boran, in Bangkok is such a wonderfully unique place, that showcases Thailand’s historical heritage. This vast open air museum, is spread over 200 acres, but can be navigated hiring an electric buggy if you didn't fancy the walk. It features meticulously crafted scaled down replicas of the country’s most iconic landmarks, temples, and architectural marvels, including the Grand Palace and Ayutthaya ruins. It is situated about a 50 minute drive away from the centre of Bangkok and is a great day out if you're a solo traveller, couple or family.
